It's easy to find out if solar makes sense for you with the help of our solar electric contractors. You select a contractor from our Trade Ally Network, who will help you choose a PV system that is right for your needs and provide a system quote estimating annual performance, installation date, and your cost after incentive deductions. The contractor will explain maintenance and warranty details, and will help you understand how to apply for tax credits available from the state.

Eligibility requirements

  • You must be an Oregon customer of Portland General Electric or Pacific Power.

  • All projects must by approved by the Energy Trust prior to installation.

  • All systems must be grid-tied and net metered to qualify.

  • Systems must be installed by a qualified Energy Trust solar contractor. Self-installed systems do not qualify.

  • Systems must be new. Expansions to existing solar systems are not eligible.

How incentives and tax credits work:

  • You select a contractor (Click “Choosing a Contractor” on the menu above).

  • Your contractor submits an incentive application to the Energy Trust for pre-approval.

  • Your system gets installed by the contractor (may be subject to an Energy Trust inspection).

  • Energy Trust pays incentive to the contractor, who then passes it through to the customer.  You pay the contractor only the net amount after the incentive.

  • Your contractor will help you fill out Oregon Department of Energy tax credit application form.

  • Customer submits tax credit form to the Oregon Department of Energy.
