Energy Trust supports the development of wind power projects ranging in size from large utility-scale wind farms to projects less than 1 kW. In addition to financial incentives, Energy Trust offers project development assistance and assistance in obtaining project co-funding.

Energy Trust makes funding available to support the development of locally-owned commercial-scale projects. Projects must be less than 10 MW and may consist of a single turbine or a small group of turbines. We offer a variety of services to assist in the development of these projects.

Energy Trust reaches out to farmers, ranchers, municipalities and landowners interested in installing small turbines on their property. These turbines can range in size from around 20 watts to approximately 50 kilowatts.

Beginning January 2008, Energy Trust no longer will support projects larger than 20 megawatts. Pacific Power and Portland General Electric will continue supporting larger projects per the Oregon Renewable Energy Act, passed in 2007, which requires Oregon’s largest utilities to acquire 25% of their electricity from new, renewable energy sources.
