Finding the annual average wind speed at your site is as easy as typing in your address. 3Tier Group Firstlook is a web-based wind map. Go to the Firstlook site and follow these directions for your free wind speed information:
- Choose a hub height
- Type in your proposed site address
- Press enter on your keyboard or click the magnifying glass symbol.
The Firstlook wind map will give you the proposed site’s annual average wind speed for free. It is not necessary to purchase the report offered on this page.
An average annual wind speed of 10mph (4.5 m/s) or greater is adequate to qualify for an Energy Trust incentive.
Energy Trust will be validating wind speeds for all proposed projects with our in-house wind map data. If you believe that the wind at your proposed site is greater than that estimated by the Firstlook wind map, please call Erin Johnston at 503-459-4075.
