HOME ENERGY SOLUTIONS—ENERGY STAR® PRODUCTS
As part of Energy Trust’s mission to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy generation, the ENERGY STAR Products program offers a variety of ways to get more ENERGY STAR qualified compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs) into the homes of Oregonians. One such program is the Change a Light, Change the World Fundraiser, which gives schools, congregations and other organizations the opportunity to raise money.

This fundraiser has a special incentive for schools in Energy Trust’s territory. For a limited time, schools may participate in a competition for a free solar electric system. The school that sells the most CFLs during October and November 2007 will receive this 1-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system, installed at no expense to the school. Only 30 schools can participate during the contest period and there are minimum requirements for the winning school. This contest is a part of the Solar 4R Schools program run by the Bonneville Environmental Foundation.

The winning school will receive, free of charge:

  • A one-kilowatt solar electric system producing clean, renewable energy
  • Educational materials for students and teachers explaining the functions and benefits of solar electric power
  • A curriculum package that uses web-based, real-time data generated by the solar installation, providing students with a comprehensive, interactive learning experience
