Municipalities and special districts across Oregon can realize significant energy savings by improving the energy performance of water and wastewater treatment facilities. Energy Trust can help with technical assistance and cash incentives for system upgrades.

- Detailed System Optimization Study – Energy Trust works with a group of energy engineering contractors to model and study your facility for opportunities to optimize energy use, estimate project cost and annual energy savings (kWh).
Cash Incentives
- Custom cash incentives:
Based on the results of the Detailed System Optimization study, Energy Trust will calculate a custom incentive for your project, with the following guidelines:
- For custom process or production equipment projects, Energy Trust will pay up to $0.32/annual kWh saved or 50% of eligible project costs, whichever is less.
- For custom lighting projects, Energy Trust will pay $0.15/annual kWh up to 30 percent of eligible project cost, whichever is less.
- Non-custom equipment incentives:
Some of the recommended energy measures for water and wastewater treatment facilities receive the standard Energy Trust incentive offerings. Your energy engineering contractor can help you with the straightforward process of completing application forms.
- Motors: Energy Trust pays a standard cash incentive of $10/hp for NEMA premium motors of 200 hp or less. To see the list of eligible motors and learn more about the incentive, download the motor tool and form.
- Lighting: Depending on the size of your project, Energy Trust pays fixed cash incentives for a wide range of energy-efficient lighting upgrades. Energy-efficient lighting upgrades are the best first step in any energy efficiency program and pay back their investment cost through energy savings in as little as a few months. - Post-Installation inspection – Let Energy Trust make sure the work was done right. To maintain a high quality standard, we’ll conduct a post-installation inspection of your project.
