Insulation and efficient windows can save you money on energy costs and keep you comfortable year-round.

Insulating your floors, walls and ceiling offers:

  • greater indoor comfort
  • reduced noise from the outside
  • lower heating and cooling bills

Installing ENERGY STAR® high-efficiency windows offers:

  • No more condensation on the cold glass

  • Increased house value and curb appeal

  • High-tech glass coatings such as low-E and special gases that fill the space between the two panes of glass, so today’s double-pane windows can be as efficient as four regular window panes would be.

Air-sealing offers:

  • Air-sealing your home reduces drafts, controls moisture, keeps out pollutants and improves overall comfort.

Insulation:

IF YOU PLAN ON ADDING TO EXISTING INSULATION

Generally speaking, it is not cost-effective to add insulation to areas of your home where existing insulation exceeds the Insulation Thresholds listed below. Insulation added to areas that are already insulated to levels at or above the Insulation Thresholds will not qualify for Home Energy Savings incentives.

If your home is already insulated, and you are considering adding more, it is important to determine the R-Levels of any existing insulation you intend to replace or add to. Unseen factors due to house settling or improper installation can greatly reduce the performance—and actual R-Level - of your existing insulation.

When possible, it is best to get an expert assessment on the actual R-Value of your existing insulation by arranging a free Home Energy Review or speaking to a Home Energy Savings Trade Ally.

BASIC INSULATION SPECIFICATIONS TABLE
