Would you like to save money on your energy costs every month? One way to start is by using a simple home energy monitor device to see how much electricity your home is using – and how much you’re spending – in real time.
Studies show that households that use real-time feedback monitors use less energy and save money. That’s why Energy Trust of Oregon is conducting a 2008 study of how home energy monitors affect residential energy consumption. Qualified households can purchase a Blue Line PowerCost Monitor for just $29.99, an 80% discount from the $149.99 retail price.
PGE customers: Our quota has been filled, so monitors are no longer available to PGE customers. Thanks for your interest!

The PowerCost Monitor is a real-time direct feedback display device for domestic energy consumers. It will tell you at a glance:
- How much electricity your home is using, moment-to-moment
- The amount of money you are spending on electricity
- How your electricity use - and energy costs – change when specific appliances are turned on or off.
The monitor consists of two components - a small display (which you can place anywhere inside your home) and a sensor unit (which you attach to your electricity meter).
The display unit, located inside the home, receives a wireless signal from the sensor unit attached to the outside of your electricity meter. The sensor unit, which is easy to install, transmits your meter information to the in-home display unit. The display shows your electricity use in kilowatt hours and dollars and cents.
