SHERMAN COUNTY: $6 million
from Energy Trust helped drive PGE's new wind farm
The last of Portland General Electric's Biglow Canyon
Wind Farm phase one project's 76 turbines went on line on
December 21. The 125-megawatt installation located in
Sherman County has the installed capacity to produce
enough electricity to power 34,000 homes. "Biglow beautifully
manifests Energy Trust's mission to drive change in how
Oregonians produce and use energy," said Peter West,
renewable energy director. "It shows how collaboration
can drive our renewable energy future farther and
faster."

STATEWIDE: New Energy
Trust incentives for 2008
Energy Trust has introduced new incentives and updated
measures in a number of programs. For residential
customers, Home Energy Solutions has a new electric water
heater incentive and ENERGY STAR® products now has new incentives for premium
efficiency refrigerators and clothes washers. For
commercial customers, New Buildings has raised incentive
caps and introduced new features to the program. Existing

STATEWIDE: New initiative
to generate power from dairy waste
Energy Trust can help farmers reduce energy costs and
generate clean renewable energy. Oregon's 320 dairy farms
could become power generators through the Dairy Power
Initiative from Energy Trust. Dairy farms that install anaerobic
digesters can receive cash incentives to turn manure into
biogas, and generate climate-safe electricity. Energy Trust
may also provide funding for feasibility studies. Photo courtesy

STATEWIDE: Energy Trust
launches Small Wind program for rural landowners
Fields of large wind turbines grab the headlines, but
small wind turbines can be a good clean energy investment
for rural homeowners, farmers, ranchers, municipalities
or landowners. Energy Trust has introduced a program to
help Oregonians install small wind turbines up to 50 kilowatts
with cash incentives up to $35,000 for residential
customers and $60,000 for commercial customers. With an
Energy Trust incentive and a state energy tax credit, a
landowner can offset up to 50 percent of the cost of a turbine
and generate their own clean, renewable power. To date,
Energy Trust has enrolled three Small Wind trade allies
and trained another 25 contractors.

TRADE ALLY OF THE MONTH: Energy
Payback Solutions, LLC, Gresham
Having Energy Trust in their corner has made a big
difference for a small business like Energy Payback
Solutions, LLC. Owner Larry Haage says that his company
has completed 30-40 lighting projects since becoming an
Energy Trust trade ally in 2003. "I really doubt we would
have had as many projects without Energy Trust," said
Haage. "The incentives really help customers make a great
decision by bringing down the payback time." Haage says
he gets great feedback about their
lighting upgrades from his customers, some of whom track their energy use
very closely. From his point of view, Energy Trust makes it
easy to serve his customers by promptly processing
his projects and offering valuable training and
networking opportunities.
