Allies for Efficiency Clatsop Community College event and building tour through Patriot Hall

APRIL 16, 2019 | 11:45 AM - 1:30 PM
  • This event has passed.

Learn from the design team how Clatsop Community College redeveloped its Patriot Hall building into a community centerpiece that is 70 percent more efficient than the national standard for a building of its type. Training participants will tour the reimagined space, which features a multi-purpose gymnasium, classrooms, community space, fitness center, an indoor track overlooking the Columbia River, and a historic plaque dedicated to Clatsop County soldiers of all wars, for whom Patriot Hall is named.

By leveraging local bonds to fund the renovation and enrolling in Energy Trust of Oregon’s Path to Net Zero, the college maximized energy efficiency and solar potential at the outset of planning. Energy Trust’s early technical assistance helped identify design strategies and technologies like daylighting, natural ventilation and low-speed ceiling fans. The college received over $57,000 in Energy Trust cash incentives and cut annual energy costs by $25,000—money that can be invested back into students and the community.
