Install your water heater.
You can either install your new water heater yourself or find an expert who can help. If you decide to hire a professional, you will still receive your instant discount at the time of purchase but you may have to pay a separate installation cost. Look for a qualified Energy Trust trade ally contractor near you if you’d like professional installation.

Around 20% of a home’s energy is used to heat water, so you may be able to lower utility bills with a more efficient model. The actual energy savings from installing a high-efficiency water heater will vary depending on the home’s characteristics and usage.
Gas tank water heaters with an UEF of 0.66 or higher (no larger than 40 gallons), an UEF of 0.69 or higher (41-74 gallons) and 0.86 or higher (no smaller than 75 gallons) meet stricter efficiency requirements than standard models and include increased insulation, improved flue baffles, electronic ignition and/or electromechanical flue damper.
Energy Trust only offers a cash-back incentive of $200 for customers of NW Natural in Washington who install a qualifying gas tankless water heater in their home. Instant discounts are not available for gas tankless water heaters.
If you purchased a qualifying water heater from a retailer offering instant discounts, you already received a discount from Energy Trust at the time of purchase. This instant discount is not affected by a contractor installation after purchase.
