Installing a smart thermostat can help you reduce energy costs and keep your home comfortable year-round. Smart thermostats use sensors to tell when you’re away, and can be programmed to use your daily schedule and local weather information to make energy-saving temperature changes automatically.

    You must live in Oregon and heat your home with electricity or natural gas provided by Portland General Electric, Pacific Power, NW Natural, Cascade Natural Gas or Avista.

    If you live in Washington, you must heat your home with gas provided by NW Natural.

  2. Install your thermostat according to the manufacturer specifications.

    Remember to consult your manufacturer’s instruction guide to ensure proper installation.

  3. Apply online within 60 days of purchase.

    Be sure to include a copy of your receipt or invoice showing proof of purchase. Please allow six to eight weeks for incentive processing and payment.

The following incentive is available for single-family and manufactured homes primarily heated by an existing electric forced-air furnace, gas forced-air furnace, or a ducted heat pump with an electric forced-air furnace.

Smart thermostat: $50

To qualify for this incentive, your smart thermostat must be:

  • Either a Nest Learning Thermostat of any generation or the Ecobee3 by Ecobee (Ecobee3 Lite does not qualify).
  • Connected to the internet through your Wi-Fi network and configured with your home’s location.

Incentives are subject to funding availability and may change. Limit one incentive per residence.

Do you need my original receipt?

No, a copy of your receipt is fine. Please keep in mind that we can only accept receipts that clearly show the model number, price and date of purchase.

I don’t have a digital copy of my receipt. Can I still apply online?

Yes. Before you submit your online application, you’ll be given the option to upload your receipt or to upload it at a later time. If you do not have a digital copy of your receipt, you can take a picture and send it to us via:

The online application will not accept my home address. Can I still apply online?

If your new appliance is being installed at a newly built property, it may not be recognized by the United States Postal Service. If this is the case, you will not be able to apply online and will need to submit a paper application through one of these alternative methods:

Please send any missing information to the contact information below. For faster processing, please include your confirmation number so we can easily find your application when it arrives.
