Building holistic solutions to increase workforce diversity
In 2022, Energy Trust began exploring a path to build a more inclusive clean energy industry by launching the Contractor Development Pathway offer, which connects Black-owned, Indigenous-owned, person of color-owned, women-owned and rural contractor businesses with resources to grow their businesses and complete more projects with Energy Trust programs. The pathway also offers support for contractors who wish to enroll in Energy Trust’s Trade Ally Network, where they can access benefits like business leads, specialized training and a voice in shaping our direction.

But for too long, the energy industry has underserved some customers, including people of color, people experiencing low to moderate incomes, customers living in rural areas and diverse businesses and contractors. Oregon cities and counties do energy planning to address a variety of local needs. Some adopt broad plans to map out their energy future and increase resilience in the face of a changing climate. Others pursue specific actions, such as taking steps to generate on-site power for critical infrastructure needed during a natural disaster.

Wildfire survivors rebuild for a more resilient tomorrow
More than 5,000 structures and 1 million acres burned in the 21 wildfires that devastated Oregon communities over Labor Day weekend 2020. Two years later, rebuilding efforts are taking shape, and many survivors are rebuilding with energy efficiency and fire resiliency in mind thanks to a collaborative effort between Energy Trust and its partners.

Bridging the gap to quality, efficient manufactured housing
Many Oregonians living in older manufactured homes struggle with high energy costs, spending up to 70% more on energy per square foot than residents of site-built homes, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
