Replacing old, leaky windows with energy-efficient windows can do more than save energy. It can also improve indoor air quality, reduce drafts and condensation, decrease outside noise and increase curb appeal.

If you own an individual condominium unit, townhome, duplex, triplex or fourplex in Washington, view available cash incentives for windows upgrades.

Projects must be installed in accordance with the specifications outlined in the Specifications Manual.

To get started on your energy-efficient upgrade follow the steps below or contact a program representative.

  1. Establish your eligibility.

    • Property’s heating must be provided by Portland General Electric or Pacific Power; or by NW Natural, Cascade Natural Gas or Avista.
    • Cash incentives are available to all Oregon multifamily attached residential properties with two or more units including: duplexes, triplexes and fourplexes; side-by-side units; and stacked structures with five or more units (electric only). For specific incentives based on your building type see the “Details” tab for further eligibility requirements.
    • Energy-saving improvements must meet program requirements.
  2. Find a trade ally contractor or work with your own contractor.

  3. Schedule a walkthrough survey or pre-installation verification before starting a windows project.

    If you haven’t already had a walkthrough survey performed at your property call 877.510.2130 or submit Form 300N Enrollment Agreement to request one.

  4. Complete and submit an incentive application with supporting documentation.

    • Include Windows Supplement, if applicable (PDF | Doc)
    • A W-9 or Substitute W-9 form is required for investment properties.
    • Energy Trust must receive applications within 90 days from the date of purchase and installation.

  5. Get your incentive.

    You should receive a cash incentive check within 6-8 weeks after all information is received.

    Note: A post-installation verification may be required.

U-Value 0.22 or lower. Replace single-pane or double-pane windows.

For stacked structures with 5 or more units only** Incentive Requirements
Windows $8 per square foot

Electric or gas-heated building
U-Value 0.23 to 0.30. Replace single-pane or double-pane.

Windows $12 per square foot

Electric or gas-heated building.
U-Value 0.22 or lower Replace single-pane or double-pane.

Storm Windows $4 per square foot

Electric or gas-heated building

Low-e glass with emissivity rating 0.22 or lower and solar transmittance greater than 0.55

Add storm windows, must be permanently installed and in the same opening type as existing prime windows. Exterior storm windows must be oriented with the low-e coating facing interior of site.

Frames must not make direct contact with metal-framed prime windows.

*Eligible projects for Portland General Electric and Pacific Power customers with electric heat or NW Natural, Cascade Natural Gas and Avista customers (on qualifying rate schedules) with natural gas heat.

** Eligible spaces include residential units and heated common area spaces within the property that are accessible 24/7.
