Energy Trust of Oregon adds Lindsey Hardy to board

Bend energy leader brings passion for efficiency and renewable energy to the nonprofit

BEND, Ore. — June 11, 2015 — Energy Trust of Oregon has added a new member to its board of directors, Lindsey Hardy of Bend. Hardy brings almost five years of experience in energy efficiency, renewable energy and business to the board, having worked in the public, nonprofit and private sectors.

Hardy is currently the project director of the Bend Energy Challenge, a program of The Environmental Center in Bend, Oregon. The Bend Energy Challenge is competing for the Georgetown University Energy Prize, a national, two-year competition to reduce energy use.

“We are privileged to have access to Lindsey’s well-rounded and hands-on trade ally contractor experience, her dedication to reducing the impacts of climate change and her passion for energy efficiency and renewable power,” said Debbie Kitchin, board president, Energy Trust.

Drawn from diverse communities around the state, Energy Trust directors represent a broad spectrum of expertise from the private sector and public institutions. Board members, all volunteers, provide strategic and policy direction for the nonprofit, which designs and delivers programs that help residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural customers save energy and generate renewable power. The 15-member board approves the organization’s annual budget and major expenditures. Board members bring independent viewpoints to their oversight of Energy Trust, which operates under a grant agreement with the Oregon Public Utility Commission.

Hardy has a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Ithaca College. During her time as an AmeriCorps volunteer with the University of Oregon’s Resource Assistance for Rural Environments, she oversaw the successful Solarize Pendleton campaign, helping neighborhoods benefit from efficiency of scale in residential solar installations. She was instrumental in planning Central Oregon’s Green and Solar Tour since 2011 and sat on the Steering Committee of the High Desert Branch of the Cascadia Green Building Council for three years. Most recently Hardy was the outreach director at Sunlight Solar Energy, a Bend-based solar energy company that installs residential and commercial solar systems.
