Net Zero research events: A Prototype for Affordable, Resilient, Low-Energy Cottage Cluster Housing

MARCH 8, 2023 | 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
  • This event has passed.

Jessy Ledesma and her team studied the potential to move toward a Path to Net Zero approach for affordable housing by clustering units, centralizing mechanical and hot water systems and optimizing multi-family development scale for solar microgrids. The research analysis focuses on the Milwaukie Courtyard Housing Project, which seeks to prototype cottage cluster housing at an infill scale utilizing mass plywood panels and solar microgrids to meet community energy, affordability and resilience goals.

Learn about this innovative project, which includes 25-35 for-sale workforce housing units in Milwaukie, Oregon. Partners include two housing developers, HomeWork Development and Wild Hair Development, and the University of Oregon Energy Studies in Buildings Laboratory, among other mass timber industry partners.
