With the help of Energy Trust of Oregon, they received $6,000 in cash incentives to install new, energy-efficient packaged terminal heat pumps (PTHPs) in guest rooms to help reduce the out-of-pocket cost.

Staff received a lot of positive feedback from guests including how “easy to use” the new units are. “I didn’t think that new PTHP units would make that much of a difference to a hotel room, but people absolutely love them,” said Errol Thomas, general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott.
