Commercial Foodservice Equipment

Foodservice operations rely on a wide variety of energy-intensive equipment—and the monthly energy expenses can be very high. Energy Trust offers cash incentives for investing in energy-efficient foodservice equipment.

To get started on your energy-efficient upgrade follow the steps below or contact a program representative.

  1. Establish your eligibility.

    • Property’s electricity must be provided by Portland General Electric or Pacific Power; or natural gas provided by NW Natural, Cascade Natural Gas or Avista. See “Details” tab for additional heating fuel and water heating fuel requirements.
    • Cash incentives are available to Oregon multifamily properties including campus living, such as dormitories and sorority and fraternity housing and assisted living properties.
    • Energy-saving improvements must meet program requirements.
  2. Find a trade ally contractor or work with your own contractor.

  3. Install equipment that meets the requirements listed on the Details tab.

  4. Complete and submit an incentive application with supporting documentation.

    • Proof of payment (invoice or receipt marked paid) and/or contractor’s invoice
    • A W-9 or Substitute W-9 form is required for investment properties.
    • Energy Trust must receive applications within 90 days from the date of purchase and installation.

  5. Get your incentive.

    You should receive a cash incentive check within 6-8 weeks after all information is received.

    Note: A post-installation verification may be required.

Review the incentive application equipment specifications and requirements before starting your project.

Equipment Incentive Requirements
Commercial Vent Hood with Demand Controlled Ventilation $900-$1,500/controlled motor hp

Total controlled horsepower must be at least 1.0.
Motor speeds must be controlled by a programmable controller, with scheduling, occupancy sensing, and heat sensing capabilities.
Variable speed control must be installed on both the make-up air unit motor and the hood exhaust motor.
Make up air must be tempered.
Retrofit hp must not exceed total existing hp of makeup air unit and exhaust fan motor. Both motors must be functional.

Gas-fired Conveyor Broilers $2,500-$3,500 each

Must be an automatic conveyor with a catalyst installed under a Type I vent hood. The input rate should be below 80 kBtu/h or have a dual stage or modulating gas valve with a capability of throttling the input rate below 80 kBtu/h.

Anti-sweat Heating Controls (ASH) $60-$80 per linear foot of door

Eligible heater controls must reduce sweat by sensing humidity, dew point or condensation. Site must not have an existing refrigeration energy management system, including ASH controls. Site receives electricity from a participating utility.

Electric Hot Food Cabinet - half-size $450 each

ENERGY STAR 2.0 required.
Interior volume must be less than 13 cubic feet.

Electric Combination Oven – 3-4 pan capacity $500 each

ENERGY STAR 3.0 required.

Electric Combination Oven – 5-40 pan capacity $1,000 each

ENERGY STAR 3.0 required.

Electric Convection Oven $300-$500 each

Full size: $500, ENERGY STAR 3.0 required, accommodates full sheet, at least 18” x 26” 1”.
Half size: $300, ENERGY STAR 3.0 required, accommodates half sheet, at least 18” x 13” 1”.

Gas Double Rack Oven $2,000 each

ENERGY STAR 3.0 required
One removable double rack or two removable single racks to accommodate two full sheets per level, each pan at least 18” x 26” x 1”.

Gas Steam Cooker $3,400 each

Cooking energy efficiency must be at least 43% and idle rate must be 2770 Btu/hr or less.

Electric Steam Cooker $2,500 each

Cooking energy efficiency must be at least 62% and idle rate must be 300W or less.

Dishwasher, Single Tank, Conveyor (Low, High or Dual Temperature) $900 each

ENERGY STAR certified and electricity must be provided by a participating utility.

Dishwasher, Multi-Tank, Conveyor (High or Dual Temperature) $900 each

ENERGY STAR certified and electricity must be provided by a participating utility.

Commercial Ice-Maker $180-$400 each

ENERGY STAR 3.0 required.
Must be commercial batch type OR continuous air-cooled ice-making head, remote condensing unit or self-contained unit and have electric or gas water heating provided by a participating utility.

Incentives are subject to funding availability and may change.

Incentives also available for businesses located in Southwest Washington.
